THE ORILLIA LAKERS YOUTH BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP

The Orillia Lakers Youth Basketball Association (O.Y.B.A.) has been servicing Orillia and area since 1991. During this time we have helped to develop thousands of Orillia students through the sport of basketball. Throughout our program, our players and coaches have received excellent instruction, developed outstanding leadership skills and received support both in playing and coaching the game of basketball from our adult volunteers.

A huge amount of gratitude goes out to our founding Board Members; Jon deVeth, Jim French, Ted Duncan, Graeme Meeks, Jim Hunter, Ted Williamson and Bob Hutchsion. These men had the foresight to start the Orillia Youth Basketball Association to help boys and girls achieve their potential not just in basketball, but as leaders, volunteers and students. The O.Y.B.A. has become an institution in Orillia and surrounding area during these past years and will remain so, for many more to come.

The Orillia Lakers Youth Basketball Associations’ Scholarships are for students graduating from an Orillia City Secondary School and entering a College or University in September. The value and number of awards may vary from year to year as it is dependent on donations by the Lakers organization, Lakers Alumni and other community supporters. In general, OYBA scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500.00 each.
